Oct 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka overpowered Namibia to win the first of its matches in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by seven wickets at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Monday (18).

After winning the toss and deciding to invite Namibia to bat first, mystery bowler Maheesh Theekshana claimed the wicket of Stephan Baard for 7 with the first ball and then struck twice within the Powerplay to take the wicket of Zane Green and Jan Frylinck with figures of 3 for 25.

After restricting Namibia for 96, a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa helped Sri Lanka to seal the victory against Namibia by seven wickets to get their T20 World Cup campaign off to a winning start.
