Sri Lanka issues new health guidelines with more restrictions

Aug 18, Colombo: The Director General of Health Services has issued a series of instructions outlining new health guidelines.
The new guidelines will be effective until August 31, according to a statement issued by the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena.
Under the new guidelines only one person can leave a house but it does not apply when going out for work or healthcare.
According to an amendment issued today, shopping malls can be opened for a maximum of 25 percent of the total number customers that could be accommodated in the space at any given time.
A supermarket can only allow 25 percent of its total capacity at a time.
Pre-Schools, Schools, Higher Education Centers including Universities, Tuition Classes will remain closed until further notice.
Day care centers will be closed for two weeks.
Bodybuilding centers, Gymnasiums and Indoor Sports complexes, Swimming pools, and spas will be closed from today.
Children’s parks, carnivals, concerts, beach parties and beach gatherings will also be banned from today.
Hotels and resorts can be kept open for only 25 percent of their total capacity.
