Sept 22, New York: Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa addressing the General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York Wednesday said ensuring everyone everywhere is vaccinated is the best way out of the COVID-19 pandemic and Sri Lanka although still a developing nation has been successful in its vaccination program.
“WE have already fully vaccinated nearly all those above the age of 30 and everyone above the age of 20 will be fully vaccinated by the end of October. We will start vaccinating children over 15 years of age in the near future,” he said.
The President said the rapid progress of vaccination was enabled by the coordinated efforts between healthcare workers, armed forces, police personnel, government servants and elected officials.
