Sri Lanka public protest continues for 3rd day, protesters set up village in Galle Face

Apr 11, Colombo: The non-stop apolitical protest demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his government continued for the third consecutive day Monday at the Galle Face Green in Colombo and there is no sign of protesters abating the struggle.
Another large crowd was seen joining the protest this afternoon and some people from far and wide also joined the protest. Yet another groups of people including businesses in the area voluntarily provide food and drink to the protesters.
It is also noteworthy that the protesters at Galle Face Green were present day and night. Some people spend the night in makeshift tents set up at the Galle Face Green.
Local businesses, international renowned present and former cricketers, religious leaders of all faiths, disabled war heroes and people from all walks of life are supporting the protest dubbed “Occupy Galle Face”.
Sri Lanka’s Test Skipper Dimuth Karunaratna and All-Rounder Wanidu Hasaranga on Monday (11) on Facebook showed their support to the youth who are camped outside the Presidential Secretariat at Galle Face.
Protests were held in many areas today against the present government and also in support of the present government in few areas.
Meanwhile a heated situation arose in Chilaw this afternoon when the “We want Gota” protesters clashed with “Go home Gota” group.
