The Permanent High Court Trial-at-bar has issued summons on Inspector General of Police CD Wickramaratne to appear before court on Monday to provide evidence related to the Easter Sunday Attacks case.
IGP Wickramaratne has been summoned to provide evidence in relation to the case filed against former IGP Pujith Jayasundara.
The order was issued by the bench comprising of Justices Namal Balalle, Adithya Patabendige, and Mohamed Irshadeen.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said when the case was taken up before the bench today, Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris requested the bench to issue summons on IGP Wickramaratne who has been named as one of the respondents in the case.
Accordingly, court issues summons on the IGP.
The case has been filed against former IGP Pujith Jayasundara over the failure to prevent the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks despite receiving intelligence reports prior to the bombings.
Indictments consisting of 855 charges on former IGP Pujith Jayasundara were read out in court last week.
855 indictments each have been filed by the Attorney General against Pujith Jayasundara and Hemasiri Fernando over their failure to prevent the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
