Aug 10, Colombo: The National Movement for Social Justice (NMSJ) today said the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution is a step forward for the future benefit of the country and it is the responsibility of the people’s representatives to get it passed unanimously.
“We highly appreciate the submission of the 22nd Amendment to the Parliament by revoking the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, which had paved the way for a dictatorial government by subjecting the democratic governance traditions of Sri Lanka to a serious distortion. We consider it as a positive action taken for the realization of the 19th amendment to the constitution,” Karu Jayasuriya, Chairman of the NMSJ said in a media release.
