The government has taken all possible measures to control the Covid- Minister of Health

Dec 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella says that the government has taken all possible measures to combat the global Covid disaster in Sri Lanka.
The Minister pointed out that the government is paying close attention to the need to take the economy to a strong level, even in the midst of a disaster. He was speaking at a meeting with BIMSTEC Secretary General Tenzin Lekpell held at the Ministry this morning (07).
Mr. Rambukwella pointed out that the country’s economy is managed through the three key areas of tourism, foreign employment and foreign investment and therefore special attention should be paid to the economy.
The Minister said that more than 90% of the people in the country wear masks correctly during the Covid control process and some guidelines have been relaxed in this regard.
He said that although there was a relaxation in the health guidelines for the operation of industries, especially cinemas, the health sector was paying close attention to it.
He said that in the face of the tsunami and the current global catastrophe, BIMSTEC had extended its support to countries including Sri Lanka and the support of such international organizations was important in the face of the disaster.
Speaking at the event, BIMSTEC Secretary General Tenzin Lekpell commended Sri Lanka for its successful implementation of the Covid control process and vaccination in the face of global catastrophe. He said that the people of Sri Lanka adhere to a very high level of health guidelines and this will be very important for the control of the epidemic.
BIMSTEC Secretary General said that special attention has been paid to the development of the science and technology sectors of the region as well as the launch of new health plans.
Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Ansul Jahan, Acting Director General of the Foreign Ministry, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, Directors of BIMSTEC Mahishini Colonne, and Hussain Mosharf were also present on the occasion.
