Aug 23, Colombo: Lasantha Alagiyawanna, State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection has assured that there will be no shortage of domestic gas.
The State Minister also pointed out that the main reason for the recent gas shortage in the market was the suspension of production by Laugfs Gas.
The government has refused to increase domestic gas prices in line with the rising global prices of LP gas and there was a possibility of an increase in the price of gas in Sri Lanka, the Minister said.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced that Laugfs Gas has commenced production on August 20 importing gas after the company was allowed to increase the price.
State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna recently inspected the production activities of both Laugfs and Litro, according to the reports provided by the Authority.
Accordingly, it has been revealed that these companies will supply the required gas to the market within the next two to three days.
Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, and the Board of Directors and staff, including the Chairmen of the Gas Companies participated in the event.
