Media attention has been drawn to two private jets that arrived at the Katunayake Airport recently.
According to Sirasa News First, the Katunayake International Airport has not received any information about the occupants of these two private jets.
Authorities say the airport is committed to protecting the privacy of such information.
One of the aircraft was identified as an M-ERCI.
The M-ERCI private jet arrived in the Maldives from Zurich on December 27 and flew to Sri Lanka on December 28.
The private jet was parked at the Katunayake International Airport for more than five days, according to international satellite data.
MERCI Limited is listed as the owner of that private jet.
Its address is a small island called the Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man is a small island under British rule between England and Ireland.
According to reports, this private jet is unregistered.
The other jet is called the G-GSVI.
The G-GSVI is a state-of-the-art jet that arrived in Sri Lanka directly from Bristol, UK on December 28.
This charter jet, which is available on rent, is currently at the Katunayake International Airport and belongs to one of the top billionaires in the UK.
It is currently owned by a UK company called Executive Jet Charter Ltd.
When inquired by Sirasa News First regarding these two private jets, the Acting Manager of the Katunayake Airport has stated that he does not have the information of the persons who arrived on those jets.
However, the duty manager has stated that it is his responsibility to protect the privacy of the passengers.
