Minister of Health – Keheliya Rambukwella has stated that the Covid-19 vaccination card will become mandatory to access public spaces in Sri Lanka from Jan. 01, 2022.
Tweeting, the minister had urged everyone to get vaccinated.
Earlier this month, the minister had said that Sri Lanka is drafting laws to make COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for all citizens eligible for the jab, with plans also under way to replace the physical vaccination card with a mobile application.
The app should be available to the public over the next two to three months, he added.
Meanwhile, there is a FR petition being considered before the Supreme Court that claims the Government’s decision to make the Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for those under the age of 18, was a violation of Fundamental Rights.
