Wikum Athula Kaluarachchi has been sworn in as a new Judge of the Court of Appeal before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.
The appointment was made to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Court of Appeal Justice Devika Abeyratne.
Wikum Athula Kaluarachchi, an alumnus of Royal College, Colombo, graduated from the Colombo Law College and entered the legal profession.
He has served as a Magistrate, a District Judge, a Judge of the Criminal High Court and the High Court of Civil Appeals for 27 years, during his 33 years of service.
He is also the former most senior Judge of the High Court.
Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga was also present at the occasion.
