Former minister Wimal Weerawansa has said that their independent group of MPs are ready for discussions only if the state ministerial portfolio given to MP Shantha Bandara is revoked.
Speaking at a media briefing today (13), he said that a group including former Finance minister – Basil Rajapaksa is in an attempt to fish MPs in their group.
He said that Renuka Perera, Sanjeewa Edirimanna, Jayantha Ketagoda, who are close associates of Basil Rajapaksa are involved in this move.
He also revealed that former ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Johnston Fernando have also been phoning MPs trying to bend their will in return for rewards such as ministerial portfolios.
They have even phoned Nimal Siripala de Silva, telling him that he will be given the Health ministerial portfolio, Weerawansa revealed.
