Manjula Nishantha, the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Dairy Food Producers Association has stated to the media that due to the increase in prices of imported ingredients, yoghurt prices will have to be increased to Rs.55-60.
He said that even though the price of yoghurt has been raised to Rs. 50 from the previous Rs. 30 in 2020, due to issues arising from the dollar shortage in the country, dairy food producers are still incurring losses.
The lack of milk supply for the yoghurt industry and the rising prices of imported ingredients are to blame for this, he added, stating that the Government needs to step in with a solution.
