Jaffna Kings captain – Thisara Perera says that he had represented the country for 12 years now and if he played any longer, younger players would have had to leave the country in search of greener pastures.
Perera was speaking during an online media briefing held by the Jaffna Kings today (22).
Thisara was responding to a journalist who had questioned whether Thisara didn’t think his decision to retire from international cricket was too hasty.
Noting that he had played his best during this time, Thisara said that he bid adieu to give an opportunity to youngsters.
Noting that he was able to share his experiences with others during the LPL, Thisara said it was a pleasure to help other cricketers in that manner.
